Edward Ashton
Edward joined CEMRG in 2025, where he develops multiscale, whole-heart electro-mechanical models to improve treatment for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. His ambition is to integrate in-silico tools with uncertainty quantification methods to support clinical decision-making and improve postoperative outcomes. He brings a background in computational modelling across biomaterials research and the medical device industry.
Edward completed his integrated master’s degree at the University of Oxford in 2021. For his master’s project he developed electrospun nanocomposite scaffolds for drug-release applications, combining nanoscale imaging with in-silico optimisation methods. Pursuing his interest in computational modelling, he worked as an analytical research engineer, applying finite element and computational fluid dynamics tools to medical device development. This work showed how digital twins can accelerate and de-risk innovation within regulatory frameworks.
