CVD-Net

UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. October 2024 to September 2029. Imperial College London, The Alan Turing Institute, University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham

CVD-Net builds digital twins that are connected to one another rather than standing alone, so that a model of the heart, the lungs and the circulation can be reasoned about together.

The first clinical target is pulmonary arterial hypertension. Patients deteriorate between appointments, and the aim is to use a twin to monitor and predict that deterioration, so care can be adjusted before an event rather than after it.

It also runs the Cardiac Digital Twin Summer School, which the group teaches on.

Steven Niederer leads CVD-Net, which is funded by EPSRC grant EP/Z531297/1, of 8.8 million pounds, from October 2024 to September 2029.
