MiMeC

GSK. Launched March 2026. Imperial College London, University of Oxford, GSK

MiMeC brings together scientists, engineers, clinicians and data specialists from Imperial, Oxford and GSK, backed by 11 million pounds of funding.

The models are grounded in physics, physiology and pharmacology rather than fitted to data alone, and run from molecular and cellular processes up to whole body physiology. Because they represent cause and effect, they can be interrogated and explained in a way a purely statistical model cannot.

Its full name is the Modelling-Informed Medicine Centre. Steven Niederer leads the programme at Imperial, where the group builds patient-specific models of the lungs, liver and kidneys from artificial intelligence and biological data.
