The first systematic review of cardiac in silico trials

Cristobal Rodero and Steven Niederer reviewed a decade of cardiac in silico clinical trials in Progress in Biomedical Engineering, and found that many leave out patient demographics and few share their code or data.

In silico trials test treatments on digital replicas of patients’ hearts. The review was the first systematic look at how they are reported, and argues for common standards on data sharing and quality control. “Finding the caveats and biases in studies is the first step towards eliminating them,” said Cristobal.
